Day 1: Arrive in Jinghong (Arrival Day)

Overview


 Today is your arrival day with no scheduled group activities. You can arrive at Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna, at any time. The tour leader will hold a welcome meeting in the evening to prepare for the adventure ahead.

Core Experience


After settling in, feel free to explore Jinghong’s famous Starlight Night Market on your own. Savor authentic tropical delicacies and experience the vibrant nightlife of Banna.

Day 2: Jinghong → Lancang (Visiting Ancient Villages, Dancing to the Drums)

Overview


We leave Jinghong and head deep into the Jingmai Mountain area in Lancang. Today, we’ll visit an authentic Dai family courtyard, learn the Elephant-foot Drum Dance (an intangible cultural heritage), and explore a quaint Dai ethnic village.

Be a Guest in a Dai Home:
Led by a local friend, you’ll hear stories about the heritage of Dai culture, visit an Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Center, and get hands-on experience making and playing traditional instruments.
Explore Nuogan Ancient Village:
After a journey through winding mountain roads, we arrive at Nuogan Ancient Village. Free from excessive commercialization, it’s a place of serene village life and warm-hearted locals. We’ll wander, listen to stories, and wait for the sunset.
Starlit Dinner in the Mountains:
Enjoy a delicious dinner far from the city’s hustle and bustle, falling asleep to the moon and stars.

Follow in the footsteps of locals into the vast ancient tea forests of Jingmai Mountain. Embark on a journey of a tea leaf, surrounded by the fragrance of trees, flowers, and tea.
Explore Wengji Ancient Village:
Step into the Blang ethnic village of Wengji and feel the heritage and belief of this people who “protect tea trees like they protect their own eyes.”
Blang Family Banquet:
In the relaxed pace of the village, we’ll visit a Blang family, participate in preparing the meal, and enjoy an authentic Blang dinner. We’ll sip tea, chat, and simply relax, experiencing the local way of life. After dinner, enjoy a performance by a local band.

Day 4: Pu'er → Mengla (From Coffee Aroma to a Rainforest Night)

In the morning, we’ll encounter lovely animals at a forest park. In the afternoon, we’ll visit a coffee plantation to savor a cup of Pu’er coffee. In the evening, we’ll embark on a magical rainforest night tour.

Waking up here, we will responsibly visit rare animals like red pandas and white rhinos, experiencing a true, cage-free home for animals.
Discover a Coffee Plantation:
Explore a utopian coffee plantation, learn the entire process of a coffee bean from plant to cup, and taste the flavor variations created by different processing methods.
Magical Rainforest Night:
Led by an expert guide, we’ll take a night exploration of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Tropical Botanical Garden. Discover dew-covered insects, quietly blooming night flowers, and use all your senses to explore the rainforest after dark.

Day 5: Mengla → Jinghong (Departure Day)

Overview


Make a final exploration in the tropical botanical garden during the day, then return to Jinghong to conclude this wonderful journey.

Core Experience


Day Tour of the Botanical Garden:
You are free to explore the daytime wonders of the CAS Botanical Garden, witnessing unique tropical phenomena like the “Arrow Poison Tree” (Antiaris toxicaria), the strangler fig, and “hanging gardens.”
Farewell:
The tour concludes, and we will arrange a unified airport transfer. The bus will arrive at Jinghong’s Starlight Night Market around 1:30 PM and at Gasa Airport around 2:00 PM.
Farewell Lunch:
Enjoy a special farewell lunch. We invite every guest to write down their thoughts on the trip, a message to fellow travelers, or feedback for our brand (Mydetra).

Can I change the travel date?

Yes—please tell us at least 16 days before Day 1 of your trip. There are two situations:

  1. Join‑in Group (shared departure)
  • You can move to another scheduled departure date. If the new date is cheaper, we refund the difference; if it is more expensive, you pay the difference.
  • You can also upgrade to a Private Tour (choose any date). A higher fee applies; you pay only the difference.
  1. Private Tour (exclusive)
  • You can shift to any new date (subject to availability). Because of high / low season rates, there may be a price difference—we refund or you top up accordingly.

Important: “Pay the difference / refund the difference” means we adjust to the new date’s published price.

Please contact us early—availability is always better the sooner you decide.

Do I need to apply visa?

Most travelers still need a visa, but many nationalities now enjoy short visa‑free entry or transit exemptions. Check if:

  1. Your passport is on the current visa‑free list;
  2. You qualify for a 72/144‑hour transit exemption; or
  3. You are joining an approved Hainan or cruise program.
    If none apply, you must apply for an L (tourist) visa before arrival. Always verify with the nearest Chinese embassy/visa center because policies change.
