Day 2 Lijiang → Tiger Leaping Gorge → Shangri-La (Gorge Warm-Up – First Edge)

Schedule

Morning:
We start with the “High Trail” of Tiger Leaping Gorge—often listed among the world’s top classic hikes—as an appetizing warm‑up. Drive to the gorge; luggage is sent by driver to the hike end so we can go light. Start at Tea Horse Guesthouse and cover two highlight segments (total ~10 km). Midway we pause at Halfway (Zhongtu / “Midway”) Guesthouse: coffee, a little day‑dreaming, balcony views of the river far below and the opposing cliffs where Jade Dragon and Haba Snow Mountains squeeze the canyon into a dramatic slot.
Afternoon:
After finishing the essence of the High Trail, drive onward to Shangri-La—poetically revered locally as the “sun and moon.” Check into a well‑located branded hotel to recharge for the pilgrimage stages ahead.

Dusk / Evening:
Arrive at Feilaisi (Feilai Temple) viewing area in Deqin, the prime platform for Meili vistas. If skies cooperate, The sunset glow  pours over the 13 Prince Peaks—pure awe. Tonight: Tibetan hotpot dinner to load energy before higher‑effort days.

Day 4 Deqin → Yubeng Village (The Initiation Test – Trekking In)

Schedule

Note on Access:
Occasionally entry to Yubeng is restricted (weather, safety, regulation). If closure occurs we will inform you promptly and, based on group preference, substitute alternate sites around Shangri-La or implement agreed after‑sales solutions.
Morning:
Say goodbye to vehicle and suitcase (horse pack service or storage optional, self‑paid). From Ninong Village trailhead we begin a sustained ascent—the famous “initiation test” of Yubeng. It challenges stamina and mindset. As you sweat up the slope and round the turns, sudden windows reveal sacred peaks such as Miancimu and Jiwaren’an— fatigue evaporates.
Afternoon:
Reach Yubeng—often romanticized as “the last hidden earthly haven.” Snow peaks encircle the village; urban noise disappears, replaced by silence and soft village sounds. Tonight we sleep beneath stars and white summits.

The ultimate physical test. We trek toward the inner heart of Meili to the Ice Lake—an emerald glacial melt lake. Route passes through original forest and Xiaonong Base Camp memorial honoring members of the former Sino‑Japanese mountaineering team who lost their lives. When the jade‑green lake framed by sacred peaks appears, expect a visceral sense of purity. Guests who feel spent may opt to remain in the village: slow walks, local rhythm, rest.

Max Elevation: ~3,800 m.

Day 6 Yubeng (Sacred Waterfall – Recovery & Blessing)

Schedule

All Day:
After yesterday’s peak output, today is a relative active recovery. Enjoy coffee, snow‑mountain views, a cat or two, unhurried village life.
Optional Core Experience:
Those still energetic follow the guide to the Sacred Waterfall—an essential point on Meili’s inner kora (pilgrimage circuit). Local belief: circling three times may wash away sins and gain the mountain’s protection. Compared with Ice Lake, this path is noticeably easier.
